God's Providence in Our Time of Need

What seemed impossible at first became possible in His time.

The Shocking News

One day, we received a letter from HDB informing us that our new BTO flat was ready for key collection. We were given two months' notice to collect the keys. When we read the letter, we were shocked and overwhelmed.

We were not ready at all. Our old flat, where we had lived for 21 years, had not been sold. In fact, it had not even been advertised on the market yet. We knew it could take three to six months to sell the flat, and we also needed time to pack up more than two decades of belongings. On top of that, renovation for the new flat had to be completed before we could move in.

The biggest concern was financial. We did not have enough funds to pay off the new flat unless we took a loan. At my age, I was not even sure if we could get the loan amount we needed, or whether approval would come in time. The pressure was heavy, and many anxious thoughts filled our minds.

Learning to Trust

In that season, we were reminded of God's Word:

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." — Psalm 56:3, KJV

With no other option, we appealed to HDB for an extension of the key collection date. At the same time, we tried to sell our old flat, but for a few months, there was still no buyer. We grew increasingly worried. We extended the key collection several times, until HDB finally told us that they would issue a final notice. If we still could not proceed, we might have to forfeit the new flat.

It was a heart-wrenching time for the whole family. We felt trapped, anxious, and unsure of what to do next. But we continued to pray, asking God to open a way.

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." — Psalm 37:5, KJV

God's Perfect Timing

Then, in God's perfect timing, things began to change. Because of the extensions, more time had passed, and during that period the stock market improved. My investments took a turn for the better. Eventually, I was able to liquidate all my investments and secure enough funds to pay off the BTO flat.

It was truly the Lord's provision. What seemed impossible at first became possible in His time. Praise the Lord!

Not only that, we also finally managed to secure a buyer for our old flat. God had made a way for us when we could not see one.

"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:19, KJV

The Move Itself

After we collected the keys, renovation began. However, the renovation period happened to coincide with the approaching Chinese New Year holidays. Because of the holiday season, the renovation took longer than expected, which left us with even less time to move once the works were completed.

Moving was another big challenge. After 21 years in our old flat, we had accumulated so many things. It was tiring and stressful trying to sort, pack, shift, and squeeze everything into the new flat. Yet even in this, God sent help through our church family, who came alongside us and helped move some of our belongings.

After much effort, sweat, stress, and by God's grace, we finally managed to move everything into our new home. By mid-April, we had officially moved in.

Looking Back

Looking back, we can see God's hand throughout the whole journey. He gave us time when we needed time. He provided the funds when we had no clear solution. He brought a buyer for our old flat. He sent people to help us. And He gave us strength to endure the whole process.

"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." — Psalm 126:3, KJV

Praise the Lord for His mercy, faithfulness, and timely provision.
